Star Wars Hotel: Hit or Miss?

D23 Expo has come and gone and with it we have gained some exciting and not so exciting news depending on what your interests are.

More news was revealed regarding the Star Wars themed hotel. Long ago, during 2017 D23 Expo if I recall correctly, it was mentioned that this would be the most immersive hotel and experience tied with Galaxy's Edge. Star Wars: Galactic Cruiser is the official name and will be a 2 day experience. So no 1 night stays here. It is meant to simulate a cruise ship in space so 2 days are needed for the full immersive experience.

The itinerary was described as such: Guests will check in to their ship which is called the Halycon , which is famous for its impeccable taste and exotic destinations. You will enter the launch pad from Walt Disney World and say farewell to earth as you jump into hyperspace. The launch pad will dock at the Halycon and once the airlock opens, you will step into the main atrium and into your journey. Your trek will feature an excursion to Batuu in Galaxy's Edge at Disney's Hollywood Studios. You will interact in a interconnecting story with familiar star wars characters like Chewbacca and Rey as well as other passengers and the crew.

You can partake in exploring the starcruiser's bridge and learning the ship's systems. This will include defense and navigation training which may or may not come in handy later on. The highlight that was explained during the panel for this was that in your cabin, every guest will be able to face off against a lightsaber training remote just as Luke Skywalker did during his Jedi training.

According to information from the panel, the choices you make during this trip will determine how your story goes on. Imagine this like a choose your own adventure cruise but Star Wars style.  Every window, including those in your cabin, will have constantly changing views of the galaxy as you go on. Lastly, you can explore hidden parts of the ship and may run into some secret meetings.

Prior to the information given about this, a star wars fan account tweeted a possible price list where a 2 night stay was about $1,400 a night for just one individual and about $7,200 for a family of 4. These numbers were not confirmed by Disney  and the tweet has since been deleted it seems. Fans did not react well to these numbers.

The question is, with the little details we have gotten , does it seem like this is worth staying at if the prices are correct or around this number per night? I personally want to wait til more details come out to make a final conclusion. But with such an immersive experience and with a 2 night minimum , I can't imagine it will be at value or moderate resort prices.

Are you excited about this brand new experience coming to Walt Disney World?
